The 23rd annual Iola Vintage Military & Gun Show with Vintage Tractors and Equipment will have many activities Aug. 9-10 for entertainment and a variety of collector’s interests on the Iola Old Car Show Grounds.

The Iola Vintage Military Show promotes the conservation, preservation and display of historic military equipment. This event will share and invites the display of military history as an important role military veterans and their equipment have made for peace and freedom.

The array of other collector’s vintage military vehicles and equipment of the past will continue along with Vintage Tractors and Equipment which played such a big part of the past. This year will feature a variety of plows from various eras that our farmers used to till the soil for planting crops.

For comparative and educational purposes living encampments will set up near the swap area with re-enactors. They will be involved in living history and weapon demonstrations. On Saturday, The Community Blood Center will be present for a blood drive.

A program on plows will be held both days. Our Guest Speaker will be David Wolfe of the Beda Company. He will present a history of plow companies and a workshop on plow setup. David is active in the Arcadia (WI) Old Time Farm Fest and annually announces the parade and gives demonstrations. He is also a member of the Arcadia Historical Society and sponsors their annual hay ride. David presents on plowing and other topics to various clubs and at shows all over the country. He also enjoys tractor pulling, collecting tractors and plows, and talking about farming. He is by trade an Operating Engineer on highway construction. David is the company’s main writer, researcher, and speaker.

There will be a Vietnam Battle Re-enactment on Saturday. Additionally, the popular World War II battle reenactments will happen Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Saturday you will have the opportunity to take a ride in a M35A2 (Deuce and A Half) truck.

There will be a Vietnam Memorial Caisson on display during the show. This is owned by Vietnam Veteran Bob Teska and his wife Ginny. They have displayed this at many locations and events including The High Ground in Neillsville, WI and at LZ Lambeau in Green Bay. This memorial has brought many Vietnam and Iraq Veterans together with respect and honor.

Brooke Burich from the Veterans Administration Center in Green Bay will bring a Mobile Veteran Center, a 38’ motor coach which is converted into a confidential counseling area. V.A. Centers provide readjustment counseling and outreach services to all veterans who served in any combat zone or experienced sexual trauma including bereavement counseling for family members at no cost. This will be here on Saturday.

Lana and Aaron Geurts, from the Green Bay area travel around to different parades and events in support of the Wounded Warrior Project. They will have The Veterans Tribute Trailer which has a vinyl wrap with 417 pictures of veterans from WWI to current having or presently serving the military. They will be here only on Saturday.

The Gun Show continues to be a convenient indoor exhibit on the grounds. A variety of gun related items will be for both exhibit and display.
