Legislation (H.B. 506) allows a vehicle built for the United States armed forces to be registered and operated on public highways in Idaho, even if such vehicle does not meet federal motor vehicle safety standards. Currently, many military surplus vehicles were not designed to meet these standards and cannot be legally registered in the state. The bill has passed the House and is currently in the Senate Committee on Transportation.
- H.B. 506 allows for the registration and use of military surplus vehicles regardless of the vehicles meeting the federal motor safety standards.
- H.B. 506 will significantly ease the burden of military surplus vehicle registration.
