Maine firearms auction grosses over $1 Million

Despite reports of economic downturns on Wall Street and hard times across the nation, the firearm industry proved resilient in Fairfield, Maine recently. Poulin Auction Company’s March 14 and 15, 2009 Firearm, Militaria and Sporting Auction grossed over $1 Million, the third consecutive time in the past year and a half.
Thousands of bids were received from absentee and phone bidders participating from all over the world including England, Canada, France, Australia, Germany, Alaska and others.
A pair of Springfield 1903 grenade launchers finalized at $5,290.
Some highlights include a Second Model Brown Bess Flintlock Musket of the American Revolution period that brought $23,000; an early paint decorated powder horn that reached $8,165; a pair of Springfield 1903 grenade launchers that finalized at $5,290; a lot including Russian PSM, a MAB Model R, and two foreign military pistols that brought $3,967.
Low estimate for the two-day auction was $830,000, while the final realized total was over $1 Million.
