Battelle wins $22.3 million contract for Readiness Centers
New Battelle contract to provide quality assurance and material management services at key installations.
Aberdeen, MD—Battelle was selected Feb. 27 to provide Quality Assurance and Materiel Management Services for the Army Sustainment Command’s Field Logistics Readiness Centers at Ft. Stewart and Ft. Benning, and for the Director of Logistics at Ft. Stewart.
The five-year, task order contract has a ceiling of $22.3 million, with an initial period of performance from April 2009 through March 2010 with four subsequent one-year options.
Battelle staff, supported by a team of subcontractors, will perform logistics verification and validation in the form of initial, in-progress, and final inspections on thousands of pieces of Army equipment per year. The supported systems will range from small, power-generation equipment to large tracked vehicles, and will also include 35,000 to 40,000 pieces per year of soldier support items—consisting of communications, night vision, CBRN gear, and weapons.
Materiel management services will include report preparation, analysis support, logistics forums, and maintenance reviews consistent with the objective of maintaining non-deployed combat vehicles, tactical vehicles and various other items of equipment in a combat ready condition.
This award is Battelle’s second funded task order under the Field and Installation Readiness Support Team (FIRST) program, an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract competitively awarded to Battelle in 2007. It has a projected five-year value in excess of $300 million for the Battelle team, if all options are exercised.
“This is a vital program that helps keep our military forces well-equipped, and their logistics operations running smoothly,” said Dean Ertwine, who leads Battelle’s Army sector. “Battelle is a leader in logistics supply chain management, and a premier supplier of force modernization technology and services.”
