School fire turns up 112-year-old flag

A 45-star flag was discovered in the attic of a Milwaukee, Wis. school after a recent fire.

A 45-star flag was discovered in the attic of a Milwaukee, Wis. school following a fire in the 1894 structure.

The American flag dates to 1897. It was discovered after lightning hit the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. K-8 School's steeple and ignited a fire on April 25.

The 112-year-old relic had some tears and other signs of wear, but authorities plan to restore and display the flag.
