Poulin’s 4-Day Auction to Feature Over 2,400 lots of Firearms & Militaria

Fairfield, ME: Poulin Auction & Antiques announced its highly anticipated March 30th, 31st, April 1st & 2nd Firearm Auction. This will be Poulin’s second auction held in their newly acquired auction facility but one that is all too familiar and welcoming for both the Poulin family and their clientele. The tradition continues at the former auction facility of world renowned hall-of fame auctioneer James Julia. This family of auctioneers has maintained a reputation of honesty and fair dealings over the past 50+ years and as Nick Poulin, along with his parents Steve and Jeanine, evolve their company, this heavily engrained way of life in conducting business dealings, will continue.

This 4-day auction includes various collections from across the country and a diversity of genres for every collector and kicks off with master hand engraver Angelo Bee engraved shotguns including 15 examples from Angelo’s personal collection. This offering includes a Browning Presentation Grade B25 O/U 12ga. Shotgun, Browning B25 Midas Grade 20ga/410 Shotgun, & a Winchester Model 42 Slide Action Cal. 410., as well as an L.C. Smith Custom Cal. 410 to mention just a few. The sporting arms offered display quality and beauty including a magnificent Holloway & Naughton Best Cased 2-bbl set estimated at $40,000-60,000 from the personal collection of the well-known & respected late Robert D. Pettus Jr. A fine Cased Beretta SS06EELL Gold O/U Double Rifle 2-bbl set carrying a pre-sale est. $35,000-55,000 will hit the auction block shortly thereafter along with numerous examples of Merkel’s, Krieghoff’s, L.C. Smith’s, Parker’s, J. Dickson & Son, Abbiatico & Salvinelli Castore, Pedro Arrizabalaga, Charles Lancaster, and so much more. A matched pair of Piotti King Best Sidelock Ejector SxS in 12 Ga. will surely draw attention carrying a $20,000-30,000 est.

A 64-year in the making collection of Colt 1911’s from the Craig Baravalle collection is coming across the auction block in this sale and will include the exceedingly rare Singer Mfg. Co. Model 1911A1 semi auto pistol with a pre-sale estimate of $50,000-70,000 as well as a North American Model 1911 est. $20,000-30,000. Other Colt 1911’s included will be National Match 1911 A1 examples, NRA Marked model, Union Switch & Signal Models as well as a rare Colt 1911A1 1969 Navy Contract, est. $7,500-15,000. Five select examples from the esteemed personal collection of Vicente Sepulveda will provide collectors with an opportunity to acquire a pristine factory engraved Colt Officer’s Model flat top target revolver with original box and factory letter. This stunning revolver comes to the auction with an estimate of $17,500-22,500. Other examples from this collection include a fantastic one of a kind Winchester Model 1873 Deluxe Rimfire Rifle w/takedown features & round full-matted bbl., A Winchester 1873 Deluxe rifle in 22 Long having factory nickel sideplates, Winchester 1873 semi-deluxe rifle with plain pistol grip In .22 long and an extremely rare archival Colt pre-war assembled SAA revolver not shipped until 1962 with full provenance.

This auction will also feature one of the most comprehensive Winchester commemorative firearms collections to come to auction featuring a beautiful Winchester Model 94 U.S. Constitution 200th Anniversary Lever Action Rifle, a stunning Winchester 94 Statue of Liberty 100th Anniversary Lever Action Rifle, a Browning Tribute 1 of 100 Model 94 Lever Action Carbine, John Wayne Commemoratives, Statehood Rifles and many more.

For the Civil War enthusiast, this auction will demand your attention. Poulin’s is proud to announce Session 1 of the Lewis Leigh, Jr. collection and the collection of the late Robert James Bogan. From the Lewis Leigh Jr. collection comes a Scarce “As Found” Volcanic Arms No 2 Navy Size Lever Action Pistol with Cartridge; "as found" 1862 dated & inspected High Hump Richmond Rifled Musket and 3 others in “attic condition”; 3 Confederate Kerr percussion revolvers in the 18th VA serial range on Pratt’s list will be offered individually. Also from the Leigh collection is a cased pair of presentation Mississippi Agent & marked percussion pistols along with Mississippi commission for Confederate General Richard Griffith who was killed in action at Savage Station, 1862 est. $8,000-10,000; a group of Civil War Sharps carbine models including 1855 USN along with a large group of identified Civil War arms.

Just as notable from the Robert Bogan collection comes a Henry military inspected lever action repeating rifle est. $15,000-22,000; Colt Henry Nettleton inspected SAA Cavalry Model revolver est. $6,000-9,000 along with many other fine examples of longarms, swords & bayonets. From the collection of distinguished author and esteemed collector Mike Shotwell is the remarkable battle swords, portrait and related material of Brig. Gen. Cornelius G. Atwood. This wonderful archive, estimated at $35,000-50,000 will be sold in its entirety as one offering. A Rigdon & Ansley Confederate revolver newly discovered in original condition marked “Augusta GA CSA” makes its appearance est. $25,000-30,000; along with A fantastic Civil War 34 star American flag “Fair Oaks, VA.” And a 2nd Mass Cavalry Guidon Co “K” along with many other fine historical items.
