Lock Stock & Barrel Auctions to Feature Rare Collectibles, Fine Arts, and Historic Memorabilia in Upcoming Live Auction

Cody, Wyo. — Lock Stock & Barrel Auctions (LSB) will showcase an extraordinary array of historic artifacts, fine art, and Americana, making it one of the most diverse and exciting auctions of the year. The upcoming Live Firearms Auction will be held at the Cody Auditorium in Cody, Wyoming. The two-day event will take place Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27 – 28, 2025, with bidding starting promptly at 9:00 AM each day.

One of the most intriguing pieces crossing the block is a Vintage 1970s Arvo Ojala Custom Paladin “Have Gun Will Travel” Double Rig. Ojala, Hollywood’s legendary fast-draw coach and holster maker, trained stars like Clint Eastwood and James Arness and set the standard for authenticity in Western films. This rare, mirrored holster rig, embellished with Paladin’s iconic chess knight emblem, was crafted for a private collector and comes from the collection of noted firearms author Rick Hacker. Few examples of Ojala’s Paladin rigs exist today, making this a truly remarkable piece of Hollywood history.

Collectors of wartime history will find equal treasures in the auction. Reaching back to the First World War, bidders will encounter a US Army M-1917 Trench Fighting Knuckle Knife, complete with its original Jewell 1918 reinforced scabbard. With its triangular spike blade designed to pierce heavy uniforms and its brutal steel knuckle guard, the knife embodied the vicious realities of trench warfare. The accompanying Jewell scabbard is rarer still, making this set a museum-quality piece spanning both world wars.

Another highlight is a WWII D-Day Paratrooper M-3 Trench Knife with 1943 M-6 Leather Scabbard. Issued to paratroopers carrying carbines and Thompsons during the invasion of Normandy, this rare L&C-made scabbard is marked with its date, inspector’s initials, and complete with its original rawhide tie-down lace. Worn strapped to the calf, these knives became a signature of America’s airborne warriors, and surviving examples in such condition are seldom seen at auction.

"This original WWII propaganda poster titled “Avenge December 7” was illustrated by Bernard Perlin in 1942. Boldly lettered with the words “Avenge December 7,” this framed piece captures the patriotic fervor that swept the nation following the attack and remains a powerful symbol of American resilience.

From a more recent chapter of military history comes a Global War on Terror-era Bowie Fighting Knuckle Knife by Eight Dollar Mountain Foundry. Crafted by Dale Sandberg in October 2001, just weeks after the September 11th attacks, the piece bears its maker’s mark, serial number, and date of manufacture. Sandberg’s intimidating knives were carried by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and this example, nearly pristine and complete with its original scabbard, reflects the surge of patriotism and service that defined a new generation of American warriors.
