SOUTH BEND, IN – The Studebaker National Museum (SNM) is developing a new temporary exhibit highlighting defense production in northern Indiana, opening in June. This is a collaborative exhibit between SNM and The History Museum, and will cover 19th century conflicts through today. Both museums have impressive collections, but we are looking to supplement our respective collections with items from organizations and individuals that collect, preserve, and display American military history. More specifically, we are looking at items produced by the following Indiana companies during WW1 or WW2: Studebaker, South Bend Watch Co., South Bend Lathe, Dodge Manufacturing Co., Ball Band/Mishawaka Rubber, South Bend Toy Co., Torrington Bearing Co., Singer Sewing Machine Co., and Stephenson Underwear Mills. If you are interested in loaning an item for the exhibit please contact the SNM curator at ksater@studebakermuseum.org. For more information, please visit www.studebakermuseum.org.
