G-758 M170 Historical Notes:

The M170 was the battlefield ambulance version of the G-758 series (though a few were configured as radio trucks or airfield taxis). With a 20-inch longer wheelbase than the M38A1, the internal layout was considerably different. The front seats were narrower. Litter racks were mounted on the rear floor. An additional litter rack hung from the bows on the passenger side of the vehicle. The spare tie and fuel can were carried in a well just to the right of the passenger’s seat. A droplight on a cable reel mounted behind the driver’s seat provided light for the medical attendants.

Production from 1953 to 1963 totaled 4,155 trucks. The M170 provided the basis for the civilian CJ-6.
