I just heard Lowe's Memorial Day ad that starts off with something like, "Memorial Day...It's all about projects".

I am not a hyper-patriot or anything, but I have to question the wisdom of downplaying the meaning of Memorial Day by trying to promote more sales. I am sure their intent was not to direct a slap in the face of fallen soldiers...for whom Memorial Day is really about (as first celebrated in 1868 and recognized by an Act of Congress more than a 100 years later in 1971).
