PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) _ A northern New York man with a history of stealing historical items and selling them on eBay is accused of possessing a Civil War uniform coat stolen from a local organization.
Police arrested 25-year-old Matthew Boire (BOY'-yer) of Plattsburgh on Tuesday and charged him with a felony criminal possession of stolen property.
Authorities say he possessed a Civil War coat, valued at about $5,000, that belonged to the Clinton County Historical Association.
Police say photos taken at Boire's apartment during a previous investigation show the coat in his possession. Officials say the coat has not been recovered.
Boire, a former historical association board member, pleaded guilty in January to stealing other artifacts from the organization including several swords and a Starr single-action revolver and attempting to sell them on eBay.
