Cease fire! That’s the neighbor’s house!
Pennsylvania history buff apologizes for misguided cannonball
September 10, 2009
UNIONTOWN, Pa. – It must have been a rather embarrassing situation for Pennsylvania history buff William Maser, 54, whose misguided cannonball slammed into his neighbor's home last week about 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Maser, who told a local TV reporter that he recreated 19th century cannons as a hobby, had fired the cannon, but by accident the 2-inch round ball ricocheted and hit his neighbor's house 400 yards away. It smashed through a window and a wall before landing in a closet.
No one was hurt.
Maser was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He said he would stop firing the cannon on this property.
