MV display to honor veterans at Vintage Motor Classic

1011-vintageclassic

The St. Petersburg Yacht Club Vintage Motor Classic on Nov. 10 is considered one of the premium vintage car, boat, and motorcycle collector shows in southeastern United States. The presentation of over 300 pre-1980 show vehicles is under the trees, on the lawn and on the beautiful waterfront in downtown St. Petersburg, Fla., in South Straub Park, adjacent to the historic yacht club.

Event organizers are seeking military motorcycles and vehicles and military-themed static displays to honor our heroes as part of the Veterans Weekend event.

Open to the public, vehicle owners can register their vehicles online at www.spyc.org/classic . Advance registration for all vehicles is $25 and must be done by Nov. 4. They accept vehicles the day of show at $35, and Pre-1980 Car Corral vehicles are $50. The first 100 vehicles to register receive a commemorative t-shirt & dash plaque.

The Vintage Motor Classic has a special area for folks who want to sell their pre-1980 classic cars, boats or motorcycles. Only in the “Car Corral” are owners allowed to place “FOR SALE” signs on their vehicles and actively sell these classics. Register your vehicle(s) for the Car Corral using the same online registration form as traditional exhibitors (Car Corral ‘Category 00’). Registration is $50. Vehicles in this area are not judged, but owners do receive a commemorative t-shirt if they are one of the first 100 to register.

Leading the trophy presentation, are several honorary awards: the mayor of St. Petersburg, club commodore, club manager, several clubs within the club and Charity award trophies to the owner of the vehicle they would “Most like to take home”. Our show is considered a fun and friendship event, and has no professional judges. Therefore the balance of judging is to be considered “People’s Choice” with emphasis on originality. Specialty, replica, custom, race, hot rods, military vehicles and boats use a different judging criteria.
