Police say vandals caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the Colorado Freedom Memorial just a day before the Fourth of July. According to the Aurora Sentinel, one glass panel of the memorial was shattered. Each panel carries names of soldiers from Colorado who have died in battle. Police say they are investigating the incident as possible vandalism.

Colorado Freedom Memorial Board President Rick Crandall told the Aurora Sentinal that the panels cost between $50,000 and $55,000. He hopes to replace the broken panel as soon as possible. While the memorial is insured, Crandall was reported to say he was wasn’t sure how much will be covered.
