Exactly 150 years ago at 4:30 a.m. Edmund Ruffin pulled the first lanyard on the first cannon to fire against the Union. Fort Sumter was under fire, and the Civil War began. By the end of the war, losses totaled 1,094,453, but the Union was preserved.
I’d like to offer a respectful commemoration of the beginning of the American Civil War. Happy Sesquicentennial.
The Union Forever!
